Hi Sinigang Tampines,

I do have my own reservations about the box scores available to us (from FIBA). According to them, the Patriots-Tigers game on 25 Oct 09 had a total of zero turnovers. I didn’t watch the game but even on first glance I doubted the accuracy of that figure.

But that is what we have to make do with, for now, so those are the numbers I’ll work on.

Yes, the KL Dragons are showing impressive form heading into the playoffs. Of the 4 playoff-bound teams, they share the best 4-game record with the Slingers (3-1). Their free throw shooting has been spot-on, an 82.4% clip over these last 4 games is better than the other playoff teams by at least 13%.

The Slingers made 51.3% of their shots – way ahead of the league average of 40.3% – during this period. They are 6-1 when shooting above 45% from the field in a game.

The Patriots have the best rebounding differential (+7.8), while Satria Muda are the only play-off bound team to commit more turnovers than forcing them during the last 4 games.

As for the Patriots defensive record home and away, I’m working on it, though I can tell you that after Freeman came on board, their opponents’ FG% is 39.0 % (from 37.4% the previous 13 games).

@Sinigang… I agree, but we have to be a little bit more patient here since Philippines is the only country crazy about basketball, and most (if not all) in Southeast Asia have football (or soccer) as their number 1 game. That’s why I have to adjust also with the writings since it lacks a lot of basketball lingo. A good example I noticed is the points production of a player. They usually (if not always) write it in terms of the total points the player scored, which is very common in soccer. In basketball it’s usually the average we looks at. Not only overall average, but averages of the team’s last four or five games. That’s why I am so curious to find out (may be if I have time) to check out the KL Dragons’ stats on their last four games where they’ve won, snd being the (by far) a hot team as we head to the playoffs.

i don’t know about ABL stat tracking. the league’s website looks inaccurate based on watching the games and comparing it with their box scores. they do miss out on assists and blocked shots. it reminds me of the 2002 Asian Games where they only got the points right.

TV5′s stat tracking is right on the dot. it comes with their experience of covering PBA games in the past having their own statisticians. it’s just a shame that it’s not official and it’s for the commentary’s use.

Good job Erwin! This will make my life easier because I would really love to know about KL Dragon’s team stats on their last four games, which is likely impressive, and this team is carrying a very positive momentum heading towards the playoffs.

Another thing, I wanted to know is that how the Patriots defense goes when they play at home and on the road? That will also be a factor heading towards the playoffs. Look also on their last two games because of Gabe Freeman on their roster, the Patriots just added a scorer, which I expect them to better their scoring. However, is their defense get affected because of this change? We’ll see.
