Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 – Satria Muda BritAma thrashed the Singapore Slingers 74-45 to even up the best-of-three series 1-1 in the semi-finals of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
Nakiea Miller and Alexander Hartman provided the one-two punch which deflated the Slingers from tip-off, while their local teammates stepped up in the absence of starter Christian Sitepu who is sidelined for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Miller bossed the Slingers on both ends of the court and finished with 24 points, 16 rebounds and an ABL record nine blocks, while the flamboyant Hartman added 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
The dynamic duo themselves out-scored the Slingers till the fourth quarter of the game, which by then had become a mere formality as the home team led 56-35.
Michael LeBlanc led the Slingers with 14 points, but Al Vergara was the only other Slinger in double digits with 10, as the team shot an ABL-record low 24% field goal percentage. Their 15 field goals were the lowest in the league as well.
A pumped-up Satria Muda team came out with greater aggression, and maintained it the entire game as the Slingers were porous in defence and toothless in attack. The home team led by 10 after the first quarter, 17 at the half, and extended it to as many as 34 late in the final period, as both coaches emptied their benches to end the game.
It was arguably the Slingers’ worst display of the season so far. They were outrebounded by 13 and out-scored 44-14 in the paint by their rampant opponents, whose local players contributed 35 points, led by Welyanson Situmorang’s 12 points on 5 for 5 shooting.
The deciding game is now scheduled for Singapore on February 7th, 2010, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

@Les, I realize you are probably obligated to list the league standings according to the point system. But next year, if we are still using this silly point system, could you also add a column to the standing table listing the winning percentage for each team. It’s a lot more meaningful than the points system.
@Slingtown fan – We actually did that in the beginning of the season but it was confusing the readers as to how the scoring worked out and so we took it out to eradicate the confusion and stay consistent with ABL’s.
So for stats and % – you can check out our stats page or stats stories done by our residential statsman Erwin Wong! : )
Roger that, jan. As long as we are going to be confused, we might as well be consistent about it.
@slingtown fan – yeah, i had half a mind this year to throw out the point system this year. I’ll remember about the winning percentage next year. If I forget, remind me! ; )
Fiba stats are being process by computer programs
@Soft-ware: Noted, but what does that mean?
cannot do anything about with stats, its not being done manual.
I guess I still don’t follow you, @Soft-ware. I work with computers myself and I don’t know of any computers that just go out and grab the information that they need. The data still need to be input manually. And we are talking about the ABL standings chart on the Redhoops website. Unless there is a direct link to FIBA computers, then I don’t understand the relevance of your comment.
ABL standings chart from redhoops are same with ABL websites
Computer says, “No!”
Computer programs can be modified to reflect a more logical way of thinking. Bottom line is this: The ABL’s points system is stupid. Winning percentages is a more logical way of posting the standings. Trying to blame it on a computer just doesn’t wash with me.
