Wednesday, September 29, 2010 — Jason Dixon has signed up to play with the new franchise, Thailand Slammers. The Slammers were briefly known as the Cobras a few weeks ago.
Dixon suited up for the Philippine Patriots last year and won the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Best Import award. Dixon averaged 15.2 points per game for the Patriots and was fourth in the league with 10.9 rebounds per game.
Dixon is joined by Chris Daniels Kuete who played for the KL Dragons in the first season. Kuete averaged 17.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for the Dragons.
The Slammers have one Filipino import in the form of Eric Canlas while Thai Attaporn Lertmalaiporn (Nop) is also on the roster. Nop won the regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for local players last season.
Other notable players on the roster are returning captain Piyapong Piroon and Thai development squad player Sukdave Gougar, a University Games and Bangkok League MVP.

The Slammers is somewhat a more catchy name than the Cobras. I just hope that their season won’t get “slammed” like last year… hehehe…
Also, it seems that the Slammers are trying to form a quartet of Kuete, Dixon, Nop, and Canlas. If that’s the case, I would see a drop in Lertmalaiporn’s production from last year as some of the scoring load will distributed among the four of them.
I prepare Thailand Dolphins, it can be seen in bang pakong river.
