Local Bruneians quitting Barracudas?
The Brunei Times is reporting that the local players are quitting the Brunei Barracudas. No reason was given.
The local Barracudas have seen very little playing in the last two seasons of the ASEAN Basketball League. Every ABL team has seven locals on the roster as required by the league.
The Barracudas currently lie in fifth place on the table and have a 3-8 win-loss record. They have little chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Only the top four qualify.
This is a very alarming issue, and the league should take a very serious look at it. This seems to be a very similar issue brought up Andre Gunawan from his article contribution “ASEAN League or Phil-Am league.”
oh and koh never played good defense all their basketball life what defense he is mentioning.(self proclaim?)
avenido is not only a scorer but a good ball passer, without his assist slingers big guy are useless!
how come skinner allow to play all through out the game when there is other big men in their line up.
Hanoi, this is not about the X’s and O’s of the game, or who is good in defense or offense. It’s about giving these guys a break. Even though the goal of each team is to win, it is still best to give these local players some adequate minutes to at least show the region what they’ve got.
Something from the rumor mill http://singaporeslingersblog.wordpress.com/2010/12/15/apparent-disharmony-the-reason-for-bruneis-local-walkout/
hanoi, what are you talking about
I guess it’s more than the minutes the locals are complaining about.
remember tengiz in 2005?
i had watched the games between slingers and bracudas last time over espn, vhris commons is not playing well and he often critize all his team mates.
dispatch commons and get new american import before it stoo late!
I wasn’t able to perform any research on the said incident you mentioned as I got myself tied up with my normal day job. Anyway, I think there’s got to be more than basketball related matters that’s going on within the Barracudas organization. It certainly worth keeping an eye on this as new developments are about to unfold.
AG irangels, get reseacrh what happen in tengiz in 2005,so you know what i mean!

they had been together since the first game, local brunei, slingers dragons even visited manila on inaugural season..now they throwing words with each other, this is not a good sign for ABL.
do you think slingers and kl dragons will follow?
To Mr. Noli Eala,
Racela was clearly liability in 1998 & 2002 asian games … candidate TO COACH rp national youth team (below 18)??????
Putting Olsen Racela as a National Basketball Coach is a stupid idea.
Dude, please stay on topic…
Brunie baracudas signed new players Ahmad Termizi Hj Nordeen, Jamri Ramlee, Md Rahmat Hj Suhaili and Arif Khalidi,in time of their game tonite against slammers
I also read about that new development. The new players were basically part timers or practice players with the Barracudas.
Regardless that these lads are part time or practice players with the Barracudas, the important part is to give their imports the much needed rest. It is possible that that Barracudas lost most of their games since the players tend to get winded or not having enough energy in to play the entire 4th quarter.
These replacements does not have to score points as long as they can provide their starters the rest needed is decent. Generally, two or three minutes max is good enough providing that the starters won’t get into foul trouble, which is likely the Slingers are going to exploit during the game.
slammers beat baracudas 72–65.
it seems that:
Slammers(1st place) vs Satria Muda (4place)
Patriots (2nd place) vs KL dragons (3 place)
Bit late for patriots to capture 2 game ahead of slamers.
Satria muda win all games, and slingers lose all its games.
You probably forget that there will be a game in Bangkok between the Slammers and the Patriots on the first week of 2011 with first place at stake. The Slammers are indeed a game ahead of the Patriots, but a Patriots win in Bangkok will “virtually” clinch first place. This is because the Patriots will own the tie break for first place since they’ve won two out of three games. Of course, a Slammers win in Bangkok will likely secure first place due to a head-to-head match-up lead and a two game advantage over the Patriots.
you are wrong, slammers are two game ahead of patriots, after they beat baracudas.
Uhmmm… NO! The Slammers are 9-3 and the Patriots are 8-4. That’s one game buddy…
slingers are very confident if slamemrs vs slingers ended up in semis. i like to watch how slammers will demolish the so called pioneer and tough team in ABL!
some slingers players had been interview and saying “we have a good chance” if against slammers!

kl dragons bring new import, replacing hartman!??
slammers must win a game vs patriots.
if slammers landed in 2nd place, they are in big trouble facing kl dragons that will parade new import (with strong credential by paper).
it seems that this new import justin keith is strong but slow player,if in case,kl dragons will change totally as this is a running team. if he play low post then it will jeopardize the position of miller that makes kl dragons easy to beat.
